Inflammation and simple Yin and Yang theory
Western Medicine divids tissue healing into Acute, Sub-Acute and Chronic conditions.
In Acupuncture philosophy Acute means that it is a Yang disease. It is a Yang disease, while the body is still fighting. Therefore a Yin treatment approach is needed. For example ice is often recommended for this stage.
Sub-Acute can be seen as a fight between Yin and Yang. Eg. when a wound has pus formation, this means that Yin and Yang are still battling on.
Chronic means that it is a Yin disease. For example muscle tension maybe present restricting bloodflow. One must treat this by its opposite, ie. by a Yang approach. For example warming techniques can be used to invigorate movement (Yang).
